Since I got back from tracking Samuel & Natasha Dan’s underwater wedding at the Tioman Mega Dive event, I’d been busy preparing for my Instructor Trainer course with NAUI. Many were surprised at my decision to crossover but I feel that after 10 years in the industry, it’s time to move forward with an organisation that makes decision & takes charge here in Malaysia.
NAUI Pacific Rim is located in KL & all materials are printed in Malaysia, keeping the cost really low. Even the certification cards are issued here. With the rising cost of everything, it makes sense to explore alternatives. So I took the plunge. I had to hit the books with vigour & rekindle my flame with scientific terms in physics & some biology. All’s good. I’m sitting for the exams this weekend!
In the passed fortnight, I had been reading manuals after manuals while getting accustomed to my Mac & its softwares & shortcuts, not to mention studying for another major exam. I had to juggle between the tons of work, the tons of materials to read & the impending load to come as my company organises the first dive conference in Malaysia. We soft launched it at the dive exhibition last weekend, much to our surprise, received a great response from the industry. I had to give up my Kuching trip & asked Ariel to cover the Rainforest Music Festival on my behalf as I had too much on my plate.
Coming back to work this week after a weekend of rubbing shoulders (sometimes the wrong ones), I realised I had to get a tool to help me with the stack of business cards that I had obtained from the hundreds of people who visited our booth. I found one advertised second hand on the web that had everything that I want, including a built-in GPS & 3G. The most important feature was the Business Card Recognition Software that could capture all the details with the built-in camera. My work has become so much easier.
This phone could also track me & log interesting points with pictures as I move about outdoors. Here is a picture of my walk with Rufus this morning at Stony Park which I had uploaded in Google Earth. The Asus P750 rocks!!! Until I fiddle with the rest, I’ve got to hit my books now……

The posters depicted toothy grins of the Osmonds’ siblings, Donny &; Marie, as far back as I can remember when my eldest sister, Patricia, had it plastered all over her room. I remember when they came on TV. I remember some of their songs & I remember how besotted she was. I couldn’t believe it when I had the opportunity to cover their appearances & then to shoot them in concert a few weeks ago. Special thanks go to Genting Group for having us there. I gave the two spare tickets to Pauline & her husband, Pok Onn & we were ecstatic! I want to dedicate this specially to my beloved TKC as a belated birthday wish. It’s also Pauline’s birthday & I gave her the tickets but the best is yet to come & you will be thrilled soon!

With my tight schedule, I had to pick Rufus up from the boarders over the weekend I was in Tenggol & my next appointment was at Istana Negara to meet with the Personal Assistant of the Confidential Secretary to the King. Filled with excitement, I drove passed the guards with Rufus on my passenger seat. They just stared in amazement. I left the engine on & the windows partial wound down & proceeded to register myself to conduct my business with the palace’s officials.
I was to get my copy of the Encyclopedia back from the Confidential Secretary to the King………with the King’s autograph in it.
