The Pudu Prison Walls of Hope

wpid-puduprisonbirdseyeview2bxgnguclslkv.jpg
Birds-eye view of the prison wall surrounding the prison.

Hardly anything was mentioned about the people who painted the mural of the now, demolished Pudu Prison Wall. On the night of the 21 June 2010, these walls that once held the regal paintings of scenes from a convict’s captive imagination of the jungles & streams from his younger days, came tumbling down to make way for a wider road. Ironically, nothing much had been said about the soon-to-be demolished former prison that once held 6,550 inmates requiring them to take sleep shifts in 240 cells over the years since it was built in 1895 until yesterday when UDA announced the plans for a mixture of commercial & residential project over the site.

The mural of the jungle & waterfall that’s left on the day of demolition.

In the 1980’s, there would be a man, with buckets of paints, preparing to spread the wall with a white emulsion. I watched in fascination as daddy sends us to school & most often we get stuck in traffic along Jalan Pudu. The earth-coloured walls would take on panel by panel of white paint, much like what the art teacher taught us to lay down a foundation before your work of art goes onto the paper. Over the weeks, these white walls were soon taking on a greenish hue, multi-tones of turquoise & stops where the outline of what seemed to be tree trunks, took place. As the branches were drawn, I could only imagine that the artist was painting a jungle – totally befitting of how the area derived its name from. Pudu in Cantonese is called Pun San Par, meaning ‘half jungle.’ With my windows down, I would watch this artist accompanied by a uniformed watchmen, with fascination as he laid the intricacies of the mural with his fingers & hand! He paid no attention to the buses & vehicles plying the route & went on to paint from morning till whenever. This stretch of 394m vertical facade made the entry to the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest mural on earth. Week by week, the walls transformed into a beautiful work of art that was vibrantly standing in the heart of the Golden Triangle.

wpid-puduprisonbeachscenet9jtrpt6zakk.jpg
Sceneries of the beach & seaside was also captured on the Jalan Hang Tuah’s section of the wall.

Although several people worked on this mural according to Helen Ang who wrote in the NST on April 21, 1994, only one person (Khong Yen Chong) got the recognition for it. This is what she wrote in a blogpost recounting the article:-

Let me share with you something I wrote in NST on April 21, 1994. It’s about ex-convict Pha Tee, the man on crutches with one leg amputated. A former drug addict, Pha had been in and out of jail most of his adult life, serving his first term in 1963 and last released 1990. His daughter recalled she sometimes saw her father painting the Pudu mural when she passed by the prison; “I wished then that I could have stopped and talked to him.”

In the photo, the right side of Pha’s jaw is swollen – “due to an infection which began when a fish bone stuck in his gum. In an attempt to cure the ailment he had extracted several of his teeth, using a string to pull them out”.

Pha earned his living through menial work, scavenging cables and electrical wires from abandoned buildings or collecting scrap metal.

According to Pha, the other artists who worked on the mural – and whom he remembered – were Khong Yen Chong, Cheng Tai Cheng, and Lee Kim Seng.

At the time I interviewed him in 1994, Pha said he’d painted murals on a block of flats in Jalan Pandan, another on a fence in a back lane behind Jalan Talalla, hotel in Perlis and factory in Terengganu.

As for my article headline; Pha said covering the prison walls with scenes from his captive imagination allowed him to remember the jungles and streams from his younger days, and gave him a transient feeling of ‘freedom’. “We worked outside from morning until early afternoon but the guard was always there, and so you always knew you had to go back inside.”

The main gate of the prison.

Someone had a sense of humour when this was drawn. No, it’s not part of the original mural.

When I got news of the demolition, I got hold of Aziz, my neighbour, to accompany me to get the last shots of this place. Although some of the panels had been tainted with graffiti, I was just glad to save a piece of history for my own recollection in later years. We ran across to the road divider as well as the nearest monorail station to try to get the best shots & left no holes un-ferreted. Aziz said that there used to be a little hut on Jalan Hang Tuah right beside the prison where they used to sell the handicrafts & goods made by the inmates. That hut is no longer there but the memory lives on.

The Watch Tower on the main gate. I was really tempted to climb it.

I could only imagine the hope of Pha Tee in being free to see the place that he held so vividly in his imagination that translated into this work that’s now demolished. It must have been this hope, that sets him apart from the rest for being able to set foot outside the prison for months. I wish all the artists who contributed to this fantastic piece of history, would lead new lives after they have served their term.

I bet if Pha Tee is still alive, he might not remember the pudgy girl who constantly yelled from her daddy’s car window, but he would surely remember hearing “Cover that section of the tree!” or “Cover this section of the grass!”… whenever the car stopped at where he was smudging!

Malaysia in 24Hrs – Underwater Sceneries

Founded by Stephen Ronee Lau in 2008, this project was initially doubted & scorned by skeptics. The participation fee of RM50 was deemed too much by cynics who cast off this initiative as a scam. Stephen is the brainchild behind the branding of Aquaria KLCC’s programs and their first coffee-table book. His concepts in events and mind-map training have earned him a reputation of being a trendsetter. When he approached me to ask for my participation in submitting 20 underwater images for the digital album DVD, I didn’t hesitate. Though the deadline had been extended several times due to insufficient number of images, that didn’t deter Stephen and the rest of us in believing what he could do with it.

On 6 March 2010, this event was launched at the National Art Gallery by the Deputy Minister of Natural Resource & Environment with an exhibit ion of 42 participants’ work, one of each selected from the portfolio submitted for this program. We were given a certificate of appreciation for our work as each one was called to the stage to receive it from the Minister. Even the participants themselves couldn’t believe that such opportunities existed in a simple submission of their photos. It was to be displayed for a month but the Minister announced that it be made a permanent exhibit as Stephen presented all 42 pieces, bound & framed, to the National Art Gallery. I was told a month prior to this launch to be present and being the first of its kind in Malaysia and for the dive industry, I told Stephen that I would not miss it for the world. I even told a dear friend who is no longer here, that it would mean so much to me if I could share the moment but who am I to warrant the time of bigwigs with their heroic deeds? I am just a small fry in the ocean looking out for other small fries not wanting to be eaten before our time.

Well, my little moment of recognition came with the presence of my dear friends who made it in their finest attire to grace and celebrate the event with me since my family could not. Thank you, Heanna, Er-Win, Jia Li, Wong & friend. Your support had been tremendously uplifting.

I can finally say I’m exhibited in the National Art Gallery!!! :D

God Will Restore Our Country!

Orchid-1.jpg

The call has come to unite & stand for justice in our country. When I began to pray, God showed me these verses in the Bible the moment I opened the Book. He has answered & He will begin the cleansing & deliverance!

When you come to appear before Me, who has required this at your hand, to trample My courts?
Bring no more vain sacrifice; incense is an abomination to Me; the new moon and sabbath, the going to meeting; I cannot endure evil and the assembly!

Your new moons and your appointed feasts My soul hates; they are a trouble to Me; I am weary to bear them.

And when you spread out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you; yea, when you make many prayers, I will not hear; your hands are full of blood.

Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes; cease to do evil; learn to do good; seek judgment, reprove the oppressor. Judge the orphan, plead for the widow.

Come now, and let us reason together, says the LORD; though your sins are as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be like wool.

If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land; but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured with the sword; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken. How has the faithful city become a harlot? It was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it, but now murderers.

Your silver has become dross, your wine mixed with water; your rulers are rebellious, and companions of thieves; everyone loves a bribe, and is pursuing rewards; they do not judge the orphan, nor does the cause of the widow come to them. And the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, the mighty One of Israel, says, Alas! I will ease Myself of My foes, and avenge Myself of My enemies.

And I will turn back My hand on you, and purge away your dross as with lye, and take away all your alloy. And I will restore your judges as at first, and your counselors as at the beginning; afterwards you shall be called the city of righteousness, the faithful city. Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her returning ones with righteousness.

And the downfall of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together; and those who forsake the LORD shall be consumed.

For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which you have desired, and you shall be ashamed for the gardens which you have chosen. For you shall be like an oak whose leaf fades, and like a garden that has no water.

And the strong shall be like tow, and the maker of it as a spark, and they shall both burn together, and none shall put them out. Isaiah 1:12 – 31

Chivalrous Knights Meeting Nightingales

In 2005, I was ranting about where my Valentine would be found so I tested the waters by inviting love letters, or any expressions thereof. Then by bringing my group of performers together, we went out to do crazy things, snapping pictures under bridges and singing on top of our lungs across the lake! The previous year, I held an exam for my group of students with Greg cooking up a storm at his apartment, which sparked off an annual event ever since. In 2006 & the years that followed, we had more celebrations, and this year, I decided to have a sit-down dinner to spice things up for the year.

Given that Valentine’s Day happen to fall on Chinese New Year, I decided to hold it a week earlier. Inviting the usual suspects, and my group of divers who are absolutely single (isn’t it fun?), we had a turnout of 30 people at The Terrace with a proper, 7-course dinner at Fukuharu Japanese Restaurant.

Andrew Sia, the Chief Reporter of The Star, was given the task of the 11th hour, to talk about ‘chivalry’ in modern times. He broke the ice, the notion that chivalry is dead and several misconception of women during the dinner which I thoroughly enjoyed. We had coffee thereafter which carried on till 2:30am before deciding to let everyone reminisce the event at home. What knights they were when meeting us nightingales….. :D

ISO Meeting TC228WG1 in Orlando, Florida

I made it to the meeting! The who’s who, who does what’s what in the world of diving were all there in the Orange County Convention Centre in Orlando. I enjoyed the food. Burnt a lot of brain cells talking and convening in the meeting as it challenged my somewhat limited knowledge in technical diving, being a recreational dive instructor. Despite calls to take up technical diving professionally, I still want to maintain my status quo. Two days of intensive debate and discussion. One for Malaysia. We put in the bid to host the next meeting in November 2010. Let’s see what happens then!

Changing The World

P1090477.JPG

When you walk on a road to a destination that diverges from your destiny, every step becomes increasingly difficult. There was a time when the vision was similar, the paths crossed were timely but differing and misunderstood objectives cause people to grow apart. The grieving has to happen and the mourning of the loss but as time and tide heal the wounds, the dawn of that new day will permutate to your requirements.

The timely assignment to the United States of America saved a week of grief. Being appointed to represent the country again was truly an honour that I felt I had to live up as the ambassador of Malaysia to the ISO Standards Meeting. I made adjustments, huge changes, sold stuff to make sure I would not be lacking in a foreign country, not wanting to be a burden to anyone. Friends were very supportive, buying up whatever I had to let go. Now if only emotional burdens can be bought!

I arrived in Washington D.C. on the 30 November & spent a night at Country Inn, every moment checking for the possibility of snow as temperature fell to 4?Celsius. Fat hopes considering the autumn leaves were largely left on the trees. I picked up those that fell & endeavoured to make bookmarks out of them. The oaks & maples were my favourite. Stuff that might have seemed ordinary, made my heart leap and dance. A tune that only sings when I’m filled with joy. Out in the cold, I went picking maple & oak leaves for keepsake.

P1090463.JPG

The following day, I flew to Orlando. Had to be ready for the ISO Standards meeting with experts from all of world with only ONE representation from Asia and that is, yours truly. I can feel my world changing already…..

Bali Unlimited!

P1070350.JPG
The Damai…..

It’s a long hiatus and one that was not intended to be. Almost as soon as I complete a trip, I had to pack and go somewhere else. Back in July, I was blessed with the grand prize for a lucky draw in renewing my subscription to SDAA magazine and I won an 8days/7nights ALL_GIRLS trip to dive Bali’s most luxurious liveaboard, The Damai in September. What an amazing gift from God!

Built in Indonesia to a length of 33 metres by 8 metres wide, it’s a villa on water! With a cruising speed over 8 knots, this beauty accommodates only 8 divers in private cabins with queen or king sized beds and shower with bath tubs! The best thing I liked about this boat was the individual workspace for camera gears! There were two masseurs onboard to give massages anytime of the day or night! Two feeder boats would be used to send us out to the dive sites from the mothership. Navigating from the south at Benoa Harbour in Tanjong Benoa, we cruised all the way north to Menjangan after one dive in Nusa Penida’s SD Point.

Menjangan is so beautiful and not many people have dived there at night simply because of the distance to the mainland and the ground considered sacred by the locals. With the access by liveaboard, we were able to recce some areas never dived before at night!!! Currents were swift, and before when people tell me about the Bali currents, I used to shrug it off but I’m telling you, the currents are some of the swiftest I’ve ever encountered! I was in my shorts & thermal vest, every metre I drifted in the dark, away from the beam of my torch was an astounding alert as seafans, huge soft corals & hard reefs emerge from nowhere for me to avoid in a matter of seconds! If a shark had been nearby, it would’ve detected my rapid pulses from breathing deeply and swerving to avoid collision. Amidst all that flying underwater, I managed to take some fantastic shots while grabbing onto a rock. I must say it was the most amazing night dive ever!

Surely Menjangan had to be the best dive site in Bali! We went on to dive Puri Jati, Amed, Tulamben, Liberty Wreck, Seraya Secrets & back to Nusa Penida. The water condition at Nusa Penida was dangerous and after attempting to dive to see the Mola Molas, we aborted due to extreme conditions unfit for diving.

I spent 5 nights on The Damai, diving to my heart’s content with 4 other girls who coincidentally, were all of Chinese descent! Mei & Ping are Malaysian Chinese residing in Singapore, Sol is Chinese Singaporean, Mei Jin is Shanghainese and I’m Nyonya Hokkien who doesn’t speak a word of Hokkien! The following 2 nights were spent in a luxurious villa in Bali called Villa Casis, where we returned to after we shopped and roamed the streets of Legian. The bathtub was handmade in an egg-shape which enclosed me entirely. The room overlooks the pool.

Returning home with tons of pictures, great dive experiences & having met great friends over those 8 days was like a dream come true. Thank you for making this possible, Alberto (owner of The Damai) & Scuba Diver Australasia Magazine!!! :D

Redang Rendezvous

Immediately after the dive expo, my dive season kicked off with a trip to model for an award-winning underwater photographer, Lawrence Alex Wu. The trip gave me an opportunity to test my 10Bar underwater housing for the Lumix LX3 prior to my Manado trip days after I got back.

Five blissful days testing and being directed for a change while having some eventful dives with the PADI Course Director, Vincent Toh, made it more hilarious than ever. With the great visibility of 30m and beyond, we made up hand signals as we went along, which was quite innovative on our part considering we’d never been so far apart to take those shots!

I had fun with my new setup but if you want to see work done by Alex, please visit here.

Some of the pictures taken with the LX3:-

Better Late Than Never…

On the first weekend of July, after preparing the opening speech for the President, I was told that he couldn’t attend the opening ceremony. The Vice President was away, making me the next in line as the Honorary Secretary to deliver the keynote address.

It’s a different feeling altogether when you get to be on the platform of the ministers and those whom you helped steer the dive industry.

Having been involved for most of my life in building the dive industry has somewhat given me the assurance that it will be here to stay and that our youth spent on a passion is not lost at all. Here’s a picture taken with the Tourism Ministry after the press conference of the opening ceremony…..

There will always be issues surrounding people in the dive industry, more so if they are doing well. I’ve come to accept the fact that there’s no stopping what others might say about you, be it good or bad but track record would prove them otherwise.

I’m happy the way issues have turned to my favour. God has blessed me with a lucky draw of an 8day/7nights luxurious liveaboard Bali trip and many new friends. Launching back into my first love after a long break has given me a newfound sense of belonging in the sport, a refreshed spirit and a renewed passion.

The Sound of Music

In the last one month since the rescue started, I got to know some amazing people, reconnected with people I’ve lost touch with and met a few whom I know, I would be friends with for life. It was also a time that I discovered the magnitude of kindness and generosity in people who held nothing back, not race, not colour, nor age or creed. So many of you burst out of your recesses to rehash your hurts, anger & regret over what you feel you could have done more for the rescued animals in the past. Each and every comment made here, I read and made a mental note to acknowledge. I too, have encountered similar pain, some mistakes which taught me very dear lessons in life but I’m determined to not let that be my setback for making a difference in what I can do today.

I want you to know that every comment uttered here is a testimony of your will to do good and do even better for the dogs that were banished from civilisation. If possible, I would like to meet each one of you in person to say that your patronage here is a great encouragement to me. Thank you so much. I will answer them in due time.

I met Mrs. Kam Sun-Yoke three years ago during the launch of Dr. Dog Programme. We were so honoured to have had the presence of the first Malaysian soprano to be invited to sing in Barcelona Music Festival where Jose Carrera himself once performed, in the event. She is putting together a performance in aid of FFF after she saw the plight in the news. An animal rescuer herself, she will be conducting  the Operafest Children’s Choir on the 1 & 2 August 2009 and the entire proceeds thereof will go to Furry Friends Farm. The hall in Jaya One in Petaling Jaya has a 300 pax seating capacity & tickets are priced from RM30 per head. More details to follow. This would be a great opportunity for us to meet all you wonderful souls!!!

As such, I will work on the promotion of this concert but not without your help. If you know of anyone who would like to sponsor others to watch this concert, companies who want to sponsor a night out for the staff or individuals who would like to come and show  support for FFF & appreciation to Mrs. Kam for her performance, please let me know. I can be reached at iam (at) pummkin (dot) net.

Vienna Calling The Movers & Shakers

At this very moment, I’m sitting on my bed in a cosy room of a hotel near the Austrian Standards Institute in Vienna. I’ve been bestowed with the task of representing Malaysia as a delegate to attend the ISO (International Standards Organisation) Standards Meeting for Diving, sent by the Technical Committee of SIRIM. Being in the working group of the first standards set, I’d been involved as part of the policy planning at the national level since 2005. I am so honoured to be sent here. It’s amazing how the whole system works when you get to the international level and meet all the movers and shakers of the dive industry around the world. It’s even more baffling that there are only two other females in the meeting and one of whom is an observer (no right to vote).

Again, I was the youngest of the lot and as I thought of something intelligent to say when I was having breakfast with butterflies on the first day, the eventual meeting was only formal until I injected pummkinology into the proceedings. Whenever they had to concur on matters, it would be called as a ‘unanimous decision of the participants,’ and when they glanced my way, I’d say, ‘I–nanimous….U-nanimous…? We-nanimous???’ *Nod nod nod*  “Ok, we have wenanimously decided!”

Pam oh Pam, when will I ever learn to be serious? Don’t tell anyone but I think I had the most amount of fun in that two-day meeting. I have to submit a few reports when I get back. Even my BSAC instructor, Deric Ellerby, was present, obviously, because he wrote the BSAC manuals and was instrumental in building the industry!

When I return, I would have a lot of work to do. This would mean translating all the effects down to the dive operators and keeping them informed and hope, they will finally come together to a better tomorrow.

Titles Should Mean Something…

wpid-nstblogger-1-2008-11-21-15-27.jpg

On Monday, I was featured in the Tech & U section of the News Straits Times daily. Friends started asking about my pageantry days. Ive blogged about it years ago here. It was a combination of excitement and frustration; not for the importance of winning the coveted titles but for the way the contestants were being treated. I bet those who were there would know what exactly Im talking about. I’m thankful I came away with a sash each time, some congeniality titles, clothes, prize money and my dignity. It opened doors for me but it didn’t make me favoured over the others who could probably do the job better than I could. I would never bank on beauty to get me through life because I know I can’t fight the signs of times. You are only as beautiful as how others see you, if you have no substance, no principles, no love, you have nothing at all.

When you fight for what you believe in, you are keeping your principles alive. Where does one build these principles? From life’s great experiences and God’s grace to know what’s right from wrong, what’s good from bad and what’s just from the unjust. In a time where people choose to sit on the fence to watch the battle, you can choose whether you want to be with the allies or the opponent. Whatever you choose, it would be a reflection of who you are and what you represent and to me, it speaks more than the many titles that one holds in their lifetime. What use would it be if a Datuk or Tan Sri acquire the title and not use their influence to make the lives of the people who are less fortunate a little bit more decent? Or what use would the CEO of the company be if he doesn’t influence his circle to give back to the society? What good would my titles be, if I don’t use what I’ve learnt to bring cheer and hope to those who are lost and joy to those who are sullen? It doesn’t even have to be a big effort. It starts with the sweeper on the street who keeps your driveway free from dry leaves, the rubbish man who diligently empties the bin for you, the stallkeeper who serves you drinks and the toilet cleaner who keeps the lavatory in your office building clean. Your smile and greeting would mean the world to them. Bringing them a drink or some cookies would let them know how much you appreciate them for their thankless service. Asking them about their day would make them get by theirs a little better. It makes you a better person for coming down from your self-raised pedestal.

Life is only temporary but life in Christ is eternal. What I sow I also reap, what is given away would be replenished and what is taken would be restored ten fold. What have I got to withhold from those who’s got nothing??? I have a roof over my head, food whenever I need, a Mac to keep me entertained, a camera to capture my fascination and a dog to keep me company at home, what else can I lack??? God has given me everything and it’s time to give back. Come join me in my little missions!!!

My Gallery

I’ve decided to open up my gallery for you since putting it up a year ago. It’s a lot of my personal ventures as well as professional excursions that had led me to great sights & soulful experiences. I hope I would be able to share some of my adventures & a lot of God’s marvellous creations with you………Pummkin’s Gallery

I will be adding pictures to it from time to time so do come back if you like what I capture. I’ve been swamped with work & the production of two magazines which will be solely my responsibility after two main editors leave the company for greener pastures in February. This is on top of what I have to do on the web portal. Pummkin’s Gallery will be my expression if I don’t get to blog that often & if I still suffer from Rufusitis (overtly-attached to Rufus) & travelitis (travelling stress). Coming back from Club Med Cherating last weekend gave me an insight to the lives of GOs (Gentle Organisers), particularly those who feel life has much more to offer than just their beautiful confines of a village. I’m honoured to have been given that privileged heartfelt confession. Surely God has put people in places for the purpose of His Kingdom. And I was plucked from a scheduled Malacca trip to go for this Cherating familiarisation trip. I spent most of my time lazing and gazing at the lotus pond if I’m not birding, marvelling at the whole surroundings. I will post pictures when I find the time between Rufus & work! Phew…..thanks for coming back……

I’ve Finally Found Someone….

Life is so full of unexpected situations, just when you think you are in the calm of things, something comes upon you & you begin to wonder if you are still on top. So much has happened in the short span of time that I can’t put the rest of my Khmer journey just yet. I will put them in a separate section which I will create specifically for it. Are you ready for what I’m going to tell you???

I HAVE A NEW MALE IN MY LIFE. His name is Miracle Rufus & the manner in which we met was the most unromantic, I would say, even traumatic. No flowers, no romantic wine & dine dates, no holding hands. When I met him, he was on the highway. Hurt. I stood in the middle of the federal highway to prevent cars from hitting him again. All three lanes traffic was halted in my attempt after seeing him yelling in pain. He was fighting for his life. I could see his leg was broken. My heart couldn’t be more torn to see somebody in excruciating pain. A taxi driver & two other motorcyclist stopped to help me pick him up to the side. We took him to the hospital. The doctors had to put a steel rod into his bone marrow to rejoin the fracture. There was no way of knowing his family members because he didn’t have any identity on him. I would visit him daily but he was just grumpy. I thought this friendship was going to be very difficult. He couldn’t talk to me & he definitely couldn’t tell me where he’s from. After the surgery, doctors said I could take him home to recover. And so I did. They told me that he’s a big boy but he’s still growing……….he’s only 6 – 8 months old. Rufus is still a puppy. And so I’ve found myself a best friend & I’m living with this male in my life.

What surprised me further is the number of well-wishers & good samaritans who have come forth to offer me the much needed help. Thank you so much. My colleague teased me that when I prayed for a companion, I forgot to tell God what shape or size he should come in. Hahaha! Very funny but I’m not minding at all. Took him a day or two to get used to me. He eats out of my hand & drinks from a syringe due to the funnelled collar he’s got on to prevent him from licking his wound. I was very apprehensive about him as he was huge & had a perpetual frown on his forehead. I guess all orthopaedic surgeries are very painful. I had to talk to him constantly & let him gain trust before I started to touch him but now he wags his tail when he sees me. Of course, as this is a huge undertaking, friends told me to weigh all the consequences of keeping a pet with my travel schedule but what was I to do? Dump him? If he was a cheating boyfriend, yeah! In a second!

Sigh, my response to them is, you gotta look at Rufus & melt. When you melt, anything & everything is possible. In emotions, there is no logic, and in logic, there’s no emotion. Now that I can have all the romantic dinners for two & hold hands whenever I want, I am not going to be logical now so please just let me fall in love this once…….

My Temporary Hiatus…

I told my imaginary prince that despite him being imaginary, he’s still my very good friend & I won’t turn him into a frog. The good thing about this ‘prince,’ is that despite all the tiresome buddy that I am when I’m delusioned about love, is that he is still there to hear me out. He may not be that near but he’ll always be close even though I know he would never look at me any different from just being a friend. How do you describe emotions to a guy friend unless you demonstrate emotions yourself to make yourself understood? Well, he need not understand but just be on the receiving end helps me a lot already. Wait a minute, I have to clarify this, I’m only like that ONE DAY in a month, possibly every month till I stop ovulating. He offered to vet my potential candidates, much like an approval system to make sure I don’t get hurt or I don’t hurt them….hahahahah! Friends like that are hard to find & even harder to keep so I must make sure that he knows I appreciate him & want to say thank you for being such a great pal! One day, he will fledge……Wishing him a very happy birthday too…..Chirp! Chirp! Thank God for him!

I had just gotten back from Sipadan & after 6 days of bliss in the diving mecca, I am ready for the challenges of things to come. I will finish blogging about my Siem Reap trip in the next few days since having impossible time frames for the articles of my bumper issue when I got back. Needless to say, something else had been keeping me occupied. I found long lost friends in Facebook! Gosh, this social networking utility is addictive!! I’m telling you, you better not get on or you might spend your time poking & prodding your friends in there instead…..

Day 3 to be continued…..
